Upon learning of the tragedy in Las Vegas last night, thoughts of despair, cynicism, a desire for isolation, and darkness arose. I then made a decision. I decided to go to Hall Ranch for a short run. It was pouring rain, so I put on a few layers, wore my shoes that could manage deep and very wet mud. I set off on the trail, slowly hiking, then running – all the while I listened to Jonathan Elias’ composition “The Prayer Cycle” w/ Alanis Morrisette and musician colleagues. I ran along the trail through Mercy, Strength, Hope, Compassion, Grace, Innocence, Forgiveness, Benediction, and Faith.
